Cashiers provide fast, friendly, and accurate check out services for our customers using computerized cash register systems. Basic math skills, accuracy, and a sense of urgency are important, as is the ability to memorize weekly specials. They assist in the cleaning and dusting of the store, stocking coolers, stocking product and general cleaning.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient checkout of customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be organized, to work independently and with the team to provide the highest quality experience, all while maintaining the overall appearance of the front end; returning items to the floor when needed.
  • Observe all store rules and Company policies, shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned by Store Manager.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed.
  • Addressing and greeting customers; answering questions in a friendly manner, proactively offering assistance and providing accurate and timely information, making product/ service recommendations and accommodating special requests
  • Properly handle, prepare, transport and store products; ensuring practices are strictly adhered to
  • Prioritizing requests and department activities while managing interruptions and attending to details to complete tasks within deadlines is a must
  • Utilize training resources and fellow team members to educate self and others about product uses and characteristics
  • Have knowledge of products used throughout the store and works across departments to provide and assist customers in finding complete meal solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Must be able speak English proficiently)
  • Basic knowledge of Math
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, 18 where Food Service is offered

Work Environment/Physical Responsibilities

  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, repetitive grasping, bending and reaching
  • Responsible for moving or lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
  • Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
  • Must be able to work various shifts per week and be available weekdays and weekends.
  • No experience required! We will train the right person!
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Normal Work Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week – 5 days per week – off one weekend per month
  • Available via phone 24/7
  • Available to work hours when staff is unavailable.
  • Stores operate 24 hours a day and 365 days per year.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum Formal Education preferred to be considered for this position is (indicated level and years of education and, if a degree is required, the major):

  • Minimum 3 years Retail Leadership experience
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills/competencies are required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Superb Mathematical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Assist Store Manager with training and supervision, and help direct store employees.
  • Greet Customers, properly suggestively recommend and sell specials and limited time only products.
  • Assists Store Manager in ensuring personnel provide constant, superior customer service in all areas at all times.
  • Ensures store is clean and visually appealing to all customers, at any time.
  • Ensure Sales policies and Cash Management procedures are strictly followed.
  • Effectively resolve customer complaints.
  • Order and receive merchandise from outside suppliers, being certain that base inventory levels are checked and there are no out of stocks.
  • Ensure all merchandise delivered is listed and priced on all invoices and all incoming merchandise is “touch counted” before signing invoice.
  • Responsible for overall store cleanliness and conditioning.
  • Maintain proper security measures for protection of merchandise and cash.
  • Maintains shift sheet for cash and shift reconciliation verification and to see that all critical counts (cigarettes, etc.) are being inventoried correctly.
  • Assist Store Manager in assigning cleaning tasks by shift and follow up on completion.

Position Summary

  • Oversees and ensures overall conditions of all stores comply with company standards including: Cleanliness, food service, store and food sanitation, customer service, and, merchandising.
  • Ensures all safety procedures are followed.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures, note violations in writing and send to Human Resource Director for filing.
  • Ensures no employees work off the clock while under their supervision.
  • Assist Store Manager in establishing a weekly schedule with a zero overtime tolerance.
  • Make sure all employees are instructed in safety procedures (gas shut off, what to do in event of robbery or fire)

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Standing and moving on dry and/or moist floors up to 8 hours in a single interval.
  • Exposures to temperatures of 32 degrees to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting and grasping varies in repetitions, distances, degrees, angle, weights, height, intervals of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
  • Exposure to dirt, dust, and other fluids that may soil clothing.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals found in a convenience and/or foodservice store.
  • Expected uniform is business casual or appropriate company logo apparel.

  • Associates Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum3 years Retail Management experience
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills/competencies are required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Mathematical and analytical skills including Profit & loss and store reports to affect change are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)

  • Hire, train, supervise, and direct all store employees.

  • Conducts regular store visits to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Inspect to be certain merchandise is billed properly and that the POS reflects the actual shelf prices.
